  Upon entering the office a very helpful and polite woman gave my 89 year old father a 2 pronged eye exam...(1) she had him cover one eye and see what letters he could make out (standard eye test) (2) she then checked the pressure in his eyes. She didn't share the results of these two exams and later when Dr. Marc Estafanous came into the exam room, I asked him about the results from my dad's eye exam. Dr Estafanous, literally stood up and turned around towards me to say " I am the doctor and I am doing his exam now!" I responded by asking about the previous exam to which he replied, "You mean what the tech did?...I am the doctor and I will do his exam now, please just wait." What Dr Estafanous failed to realize or ask is that my father insisted he was going to drive again after his eye surgery. I wanted to ask about the previous eye exam just to be sure he was able to drive. Dr. Estafanous told my father that he wanted to see him in 2 months for a follow-up. After the Dr. was done and we left the exam room, I approached Dr. Marc, to try to explain that yes I was asking about the exam that was done prior to us seeing him. He was very short with me and reminded me that, "He is the doctor and HE did the exam." I tried to ask what else the previous exam was called as he seemed to have issue with me asking for the other eye test and he again was rude. I tried to reason with him and said, "there is no reason to be rude to me" and he replied in a very sarcastic tone, "Oh ok, I am being rude...sure fine" and walked away. As my dad and I left we stopped to set up the 2 month appointment as per Dr. Marc and the girl at the front desk, who was also nice, friendly and professional, suggested a date that didn't work for us and I asked about another day. She said, "opps, the doctor has changed his notes and you no longer need to come back here to see the doctor, your dad can go to his own eye doctor." Ok so, I have had people be rude to me before.. perhaps Dr. Marc had a bad day (although last visit his bedside manners were short and curt) or he was tired...no big worry. BUT, to change his notes after my conversation with him certainly begs the question about the quality of care he wants to provide my dad. It was literally a minute or two after he and I spoke that he changed his notes...why the change?... where was the professional courtesy to explain the change? If he changed his professional opinion, why not walk 25' and tell us why. OR was this because, I asked him about another eye exam and called him out for being rude? I don't know and will never know as we were not given an explanation. We were referred to this office and I will say this, Dr. Marc Estafanous is rude, short and gives doctors a bad name with his bedside manners, but as I stated previously, perhaps he was just having a bad day the last two visits. I can get past all of that if the quality of care is top notch. Once he changed his orders to where he didn't want to see my dad again...I think it is fair to wonder just how concerned he and this office are with quality of care. If you HAVE to go to this office my suggestion is that you be SURE to ask for a doctor other than Dr. Marc Estafanous. Jim Bombeck
